Dear Lido,
It’s been a moment & I wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing? 2025 is already a year for the history books & as the Carpenter’s sang: “we’ve only just begun”. I just want to remind you that Lido Village Books is here for you! It is your village’s space to: stop by & say hi on your daily walks, take a look at the newest reads, join in one of the bookclubs, come listen to storytime or follow us to some of the community gathering programs & events we participate in. We have quite a year planned for you Lido friends & family…scroll down to see this month’s happening or go to our calendar of events to game plan for next month.
NEW in 2025:
We have updated ourselves to the 21st century & ONLY have our cell phone number now - we have gotten rid of our landline, so please update your files to reflect only this active number: 949-524-7376 - you can call OR text!

This year Lido will be at the LA Times Book Festival! If you are going, come say hi! (more information coming in March)
Love the idea of a bookclub but once you get home you just want to veg and snuggle in pj’s?! We got you! We have a NEW ONLINE bookclub called HotTalks BookClub on our substack. Join us for a ‘chat’ to discuss a current hot book without ever leaving your couch.
We’ve added a new Community News to the bottom of this newsletter…scroll to see what’s happening in and around Lido & beyond!
Friends, last Sunday Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow…so…6 more weeks of winter BUT with sunshine like we have today and warmth from the earth I am reflecting on Margaret Renkl’s words from “The Comfort of Crows - week 8”:
“A day like today is a reminder in most ways…spring is already here, heaving in on blue skies and puffy clouds and sunshine, long before its time. It’s impossible not to worry. It’s also impossible not to glory in the glorious day. ‘Birdy, birdy, birdy, birdy,’ sings the redbird. ‘Birdy, birdy, birdy, birdy, cheer, cheer, cheer.’ My heart sings, too. I can’t help myself. Beauty and light will always be their own reward.”

We have gotten many requests on how to help the Palisades Fire victims. Here are 2 opportunities to be a Book Fairy for those who have lost their personal libraries to the fire:
Follow:
Reading Rhythms on Instagram - they are “gearing up to do a personalized book drive” (donor link opening soon). Lost book request form is Here.
Los Angeles Wildfires Book Drive on Instagram. They have paired up with Diesel Bookstore in Brentwood to “help rebuild school and home libraries destroyed by the fire". You can go Here to learn how to donate.
A HUGE Shout-Out to all the young ladies of SHARE who held a book drive at the store to support all the children from the Palisades & Eaton fires who lost their libraries. In the span of a few hours they had received a huge box full of new book donations. THANK YOU! SHARE for giving your time & your heart to those who needed it most and for sharing the love of reading to other children.
